Deli meats, for instance, run the risk of giving listeria to someone who consumed it and therefore should be avoided during pregnancy. You should also avoid unpasteurized dairy products, because this can also cause diseases. You need to be careful when eating fish. Although fish offers a lot of health benefits for pregnant women, you do need to be careful which fish that you eat. Some fish have a mercury content that is unsafe for women who are breastfeeding or pregnant. Fish that need to be avoided include swordfish, king mackerel, or tile fish. You will also need to avoid sushi and shellfish which carries a higher risk of food poisoning which could be serious for a pregnant women and her unborn baby.  You need to avoid food items that have sat outside for a long time unrefrigerated; this especially includes items with eggs, chicken, and mayonnaise.

There are other things to watch out for in the environment such as painting, because the fumes can cause some potential hazards to your pregnancy. You should also avoid things like amusement park rides because this poses a risk to your pregnancy.
