Acidity During Pregnancy and Treatment

Spread the love

Pregnancy acidity is one of the symptoms that affect women especially in their last months of pregnancy, and poses no risk to the health of the pregnant woman or to the fetus, but causes some discomforts.

Acidity appears for several reasons, including: fetal pressure on the stomach, which increases the activity of the hormone progesterone and the effect of an acid liquid in the stomach that causes heartburn or acidity. Furthermore, it increases the size of the uterus, which puts pressure on the stomach and causes the exit of the acid from the stomach into the esophagus.

Don’t worry, there are several ways to avoid acidity and to treat her with healthy ways that do not affect the fetus:

  • Eat slowly and chew well.
  • Eat dinner three hours before your bedtime.
  • Don’t drink too much water while eating.
  • Be careful not to eat foods that stimulate the production of acid, such as chocolate, citrus fruits, tomatoes and spicy foods.
  • Avoid drinks that contain caffeine, such as coffee and tea.

Here below you will find a list of the foods that can help you in getting rid of acidity:

  • Grilled sweet potatoes.
  • Cold cucumber slices
  • Lentils
  • A cup of yogurt before going to sleep.
