Yummy: Alien Juice!

Spread the love

There’s a significant problem that my clients with children face: as soon as the kids come to day nursery or kindergarten, the whole family gets sick! Bacteria, viruses… the little ones carry it all home.

“What can we do, Caroline?”

“Is there some prevention advice, Caroline?”

I know that most parents hope that there is something they can do to keep their children from getting sick.

That’s why my answer might be sobering:

“I’m sorry, but – no. You can’t protect your children from getting ill completely. If anything, their young bodies need this experience in order to learn how to deal with diseases. Helping train their immune system, it’s a much-needed input during the first ten years of their lives!”

Good news is, parents can actually radically shorten the duration of disease by providing for a healthy and balanced everyday diet. Eat colorful foods… And your children will follow! Have fun cooking and use clever “food marketing”: how about a healthy green smoothie in the disguise of an “Alien Juice”? Here’s the recipe:

  • 2 cups coconut water
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 2-3 mint leaves
  • 1 hearty dash of lemon juice

Blend well with a good blender (e.g. a Vitamix) and watch the smoothies magically disappear… because that’s how fast the little ones will empty their glasses.
