Oatmeal is more than just a healthy breakfast

Oatmeal contains many natural healing qualities and can be used topically for skin conditions as well as being excellent as a source of fiber.

How to treat dry itchy skin with an oatmeal bath

To make your own oatmeal bath:-

  • Grind oatmeal in a blender or food processor until it’s finely pulverized.
  • Sprinkle a half-cup of oatmeal into the bath as the water is running and mix thoroughly. The water will look milky, and the tub will be slick.
  • Allow your baby to soak for up to 15 minutes.

You can repeat this up to three times a day.

Warm Comfort: The Hot Water Bottle

Heat has long been known as a comfort and cure for a host of illnesses and discomforts. This classic home remedy is a source of comfort and warmth when your baby has an earache, an upset tummy, fever or chills.

  • Wrap a hot water bottle in a soft towel and you have a cuddly companion for your poorly child.
  • Be very careful not to scald yourself when filling the bottle, and be sure to wrap it well before placing the hot surface near your child.
  • Tuck the bottle next to a sore ear, tummy, or chest. Place the bottle near your child’s feet with extra towels until your baby’s feet feel warm.

This is a lovely thing to do for your child, it’s warm and gives comfort being something they can cuddle with or which can warm a bed before sleep. The idea of warmth is important for people who are sick.

Natural remedies are in no way a replacement for modern medicine and must be seen as an aid to be used in conjunction.  If you have any doubts as to the health of your child seek medical advice.
