Bright Minds Institute Home Activity: Sensory Activation

Step 1: Awaken 3 of your child’s senses by giving them different items to taste, touch and smell. Try to make the items as different as possible. For example, give them some minty toothpaste and a slice of lemon to taste. Some play slime and sand paper to touch. Some garlic and lavender oil to smell.

Step 2: Use as many descriptive words as possible when performing this activity. Ask your child what words he would use to describe the tastes, touch and smelling sensations he has just experienced. Always give your child positive affirmation in response to his answers.

This activity helps with sensory stimulation and language development.
