Step 1: For smaller children, use between one and ten objects depending on age and for older children use up to twenty objects. The objects can be toys or any appropriate household object.
Step 2: Write any chosen number between one and ten or one and twenty depending on your child’s age on a piece of paper or a white board.
Step 3: Show the number that you have written down to your child, then have your child count the correct amount of objects to match that number.
Repeat this activity daily with different numbers. This activity helps children understand quantities and begin to identify numbers.
